Cairns: Cool Summertime Day Trips Easy Access From Your Cairns Apartment

October onwards is stinger season in the Far North which means no paddling in the sea without stinger suits. However, that’s actually a good thing because it means it’s time to seek out some of our fantastic local watering holes for a refreshing dip. They include:
Crystal Cascades – very popular with beautiful cool streams and rocks that form a great slide for the kids (also fun for the big kids!)

Mossman Gorge – the place to go for COLD water (close to Port Douglas)
Ross & Lock – 20kms south of Cairns with big swings, rapids and lagoons
Babinda Boulders – 40 mins south of Cairns with crystal waters and plenty of room
Behana Creek – south of Cairns with pristine, cool waters and shaded picnic areas
There are heaps of other ones too. You can also go for cool swims in the lakes in the Tablelands.
