Cairns Barrier Reef: Best Ways To See It With Kids
The Great Barrier Reef is one of the main reasons to visit Cairns and the Far North but parents might not be sure about taking the kids. However, you don’t need to be a diving expert to enjoy the Reef. We’ve tried and would recommend the following options with kids:
1) Reef Magic – they have a huge under-cover pontoon out on the reef so once you arrive the kids can get off and run around easily. The staff are all geared up for helping kids with snorkelling and there’s even a little sectioned off pool area for the littlies.
2) Green Island – an easy daytrip from Cairns and perfect for families. You can snorkel from the beach so it’s the ideal way to teach kids how to snorkel. There’s also a pool which you can use all day and both tour operators include a glass-bottomed boat tour around the coral. Stinger suits can be rented on the island if necessary.
